Elam Past and Present / Official Line-up Announced

Films from entries by students at Elam School of Fine Arts have been selected for ELAM PAST AND PRESENT – an exhibition evening held at the Academy Cinema on 17 October showcasing the films of past and present Elam students.
Ten short films have been chosen to screen alongside works by Elam graduates, Florian Habicht and Briar March.
”The overall quality of the entries was outstanding, making the selection process extremely difficult. However, a decision has been made and we now have some really innovative films to show to the public,” says Exhibition Director, Katrin Hagen.
Films to screen on the night span many genres including animation, comedy, drama, experimental and documentary.

Experimental / Art Video (2min 30sec) | A news reader is disrupted by video disturbance
» Tim van Dammen, Hallway (2005)
Art House (5min 34sec) | Two people meet in a hallway and have an honest exchange
» Richard Frater, We Tried but There was Nothing We Could Do (2005)
Video Art (2min) | The director, Frater, is interested in how minimal editing devices can attain shock value within a still context
» Louise Lever, Sealed Shut (2005)
Drama (4min) | Two friends, their relationship and falling out
» Louise Lever, Speech Bubbles (2005)
Animation (58sec) | A comedy about two balloons who have a short conversation but lack communication
» Mythily Meher, Poor Grime (2004)
Animation (1min 30sec) | Poor grime man wants so much more...
» Holly Shin, Remote (2004)
Video Art / Performance (1min 45sec) | In theory, users manipulate technology, but in reality technology manipulates its users. This work is about interface / interspace between technology and its users.
