Back for a sixth wildly successful year, the V 24 Hour Movie Marathon (presented by 95BFM and Radio Active) is THE movie-geek event of the year. A celebration of wild and wicked celluloid that caters to film-fiends who wanna party in a cinema from dusk 'til dawn – and back to dusk again.
To hardcore movie fans, cinemas are churches. And each year devoted disciples make an annual pilgrimage to two NZ cinemas to begin a cinematic cleansing that lasts 24 solid hours. Immersed in all forms of motion picture entertainment, these fans feast on sights never to be forgotten, they listen in rapture to the music of lost worlds and in the end, they take their minds to the precipice of beyond and teeter there like broomhandles on a drunken uncle's chin.
As always, the V 24 Hour Movie Marathon lineup is a surprise – handpicked from vaults around the world and guaranteed to blow impressionable minds forever. This year's cinematic lineup includes: a flesh-munching masterpiece, a holy hootenanny, a 70s musical freak-out, a lost counterculture artifact, a '80's science-fiction classic, a study of sexual perversity, a new-wave action flick, a one-man exploitation extravaganza, an epic misfire and much much more.
The V 24 Hour Movie Marathon is the last frontier in exhibition, it's where art meets trash head on, the results aren't always pretty but they are notoriously unforgettable.
